If you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications but see yourself contributing, please submit your resume.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and electrical testing for Clearway Energy’s high voltage substations in support of the wind and solar plants in Texas and the central U.S. Ensure compliance with electrical industry standards and company objectives.
  • Assist in creating procedures for substation Lock-out, Tag-out, HV switching, and safety grounding in substations.

  • Instruct, train, and assist site personnel in understanding and troubleshooting associated substation equipment and system protections.
  • Review and assist in the development of work scopes for planned substation outages.

  • Supervise the implementation of company procedures by contracted testing personnel. Review and file final relay test reports.
  • Ensure modifications made to site equipment are documented for future reference. Maintain test logs.
  • Review site-specific equipment manuals for maintenance and repair requirements.

  • Support the NERC Compliance program, with specific regard to PER-006, PRC-004, PRC-005, and PRC-025.
  • Travel with work truck within the associated region to supervise and assist with substation maintenance activities– approximately 50% (airline travel may be required for some locations in the assigned region).

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology focused on electrical power systems,

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program OR equivalent combination of work experience AND technical training will be considered.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of MV and HV electrical equipment, overhead lines, underground lines, and substation systems.
  • Must possess an understanding of electrical work safety, environmental and safety rules, and regulations, and first aid procedures.
  • Must possess knowledge of electrical high voltage test equipment for testing electrical insulation resistance.
  • Must possess significant experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams (interviewers will be tested on this item).
