Summary

GeneDx is hiring a Strategic Account Director - NICU (NYC) to join their Management team. As an SAD, you will serve as the face of GeneDx in your territory—working directly with neonatologists, hospitalists, genetic counselors, and NICU teams.

Summary

GeneDx is seeking a high-performing, strategically minded Strategic Account Director (SAD) to drive growth in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) market. This role is ideal for someone with experience in hospital-based sales or genomics, who excels at consultative selling, navigating complex hospital environments, and promoting rapid adoption of genomic testing. This role reports to the Regional Sales Director.

As an SAD, you will serve as the face of GeneDx in your territory—working directly with neonatologists, hospitalists, genetic counselors, and NICU teams. You will help ensure critically ill newborns have access to timely, actionable genetic insights while executing regional sales strategies developed with your Regional Sales Director.

Territory  - New York City

Travel as needed, including some weekends, evenings, or overnights for conferences, meetings, or special events. Expectation for ~75% travel or field time.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive territory growth by prospecting, developing, and closing new business while expanding relationships with hospital-based NICU teams.
  • Serve as the primary account contact for neonatologists, hospitalists, head nurse and clinical staff within the NICU.
  • Deliver tailored, consultative sales presentations to communicate the value of rapid genomic testing for critically ill newborns.
  • Collaborate with the relevant Directors of Health Systems to engage hospital leadership where needed to drive optimal utilization of rapid genome sequencing.
  • Coordinate with any relevant sales channels representatives (specialty RAEs or otherwise) where needed to garner access and advocacy for NICU sequencing.
  • Coordinate and execute both in-person and virtual hospital engagements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth onboarding, test ordering, and timely result delivery.
  • Lead educational initiatives for NICU teams, including hospital presentations, conferences, and clinical meetings.
  • Stay current on NICU workflows, clinical guidelines, product offerings, and competitive landscape.
  • Effectively pull metrics and case studies for NICU clients to continuously monitor utilization and impact to reinforce the use case of rWGS.
  • Maintain high field presence and relationship with clients.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets, KPIs, and activity metrics.
  • Document opportunities, interactions, and updates in CRM, maintaining a robust clinician development pipeline.
  • Actively embody and encourage GeneDx cultural principles.
  • Demonstrate accountability, strong work ethic, and team-first mentality.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5 - 7 years in healthcare or hospital-based sales, preferably NICU or genetics-focused.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to manage multiple offerings and clinical opportunities.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to work independently and manage time and territory effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Work Environment

  • This is a hybrid position requiring both in-office and remote work. The employee will work remotely from a home office or other suitable location with reliable high-speed internet access. In-office work is performed in a professional office setting with standard lighting, temperature control, and low to moderate noise levels. Remote work is performed in a climate-controlled environment. Standard office equipment including computer, phone, and video conferencing tools are used in both settings. Your standard work schedule and hours will be established in collaboration with your leader and may be adjusted to align with evolving business needs.

Physical Demands

This is a sedentary role with physical demands including:

  • Sitting for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day)
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers for typing and mouse operation
  • Visual acuity for reading computer screens and documents
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via video
  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching for files or supplies

  • Ability to commute to office location as required

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

A culture that plays to win, because patients are counting on us

At GeneDx, we're driven by urgency and purpose: helping patients get diagnosed earlier. Our mission, to empower everyone to live their healthiest life through genomics, drives our team to make a tangible impact each day – and shapes our culture where high standards, strong teamwork, and meaningful ownership are the norm. We act with intention, support one another, and deliver work we're proud to put our names on.

Here’s what you can expect day to day:

1. Play like a champion (step up, redefine what’s possible, own it)

We bring energy, focus, and a bias for action. We step up, take initiative, and deliver on our commitments – with quality, speed, and care.

2. Think bigger (stretch beyond, courage not consensus)

We push past the obvious. We challenge assumptions, raise the bar, and make thoughtful, decisive calls — choosing progress over perfection.

3. Grow fast (be curious, speak up, be agile)

We stay curious, ask questions, and share direct feedback with respect. We adapt quickly and keep learning through collaboration and continuous improvement.

If you’re motivated by meaningful work, a fast-moving environment, and teammates who care deeply about outcomes, you’ll thrive at GeneDx.

At GeneDx, we believe in taking care of our people. We provide competitive compensation and benefits that reflect local market practices and legal requirements in each country where we operate, helping employees thrive both professionally and personally.

We welcome everyone regardless of their background. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age, and other characteristics protected by law.

GeneDx is a place where people from all backgrounds can make an impact.
