An overview of this role

As a Staff Solutions Architect at GitLab, you’ll help prospects and customers understand how our AI-powered DevSecOps platform can support their technical requirements and business goals across the software development lifecycle. You’ll act as a trusted technical advisor through complex evaluations, guide teams through digital transformation, and connect customer needs back to our product direction. Reporting to a regional Solutions Architect leader, you’ll work closely with Account Executives and cross-functional partners across APJ. In your first year, you’ll focus on successful platform adoption, strong technical evaluations, and building trusted relationships that highlight the value we bring in an AI-driven DevSecOps landscape.

You’ll work at the intersection of customer outcomes, modern software delivery, cloud, security, and emerging agentic AI workflows, helping organizations move from planning to monitoring with greater clarity and confidence.

What you’ll do

  • Work with Account Executives and regional sales teams to shape technical account strategies that increase qualified pipeline and support expansion opportunities.
  • Run technical discovery sessions, product demonstrations, and validation activities to define success criteria and accelerate technical validation across the software development lifecycle.
  • Own technical evaluations as the primary point of contact, including proof of concept and proof of value activities, solution design, and workshop delivery that produce documented outcomes and clear next-step decisions.
  • Develop solution architectures that align GitLab capabilities with customer environments, priorities, and operating models to reduce implementation risk and speed time to value.
  • Guide customers on modern software development practices, including continuous integration, continuous deployment, security, and cloud adoption, to improve delivery consistency and security readiness.
  • Build strong relationships with technical practitioners and business stakeholders to strengthen alignment, shorten decision cycles, and support GitLab-based transformation efforts.
  • Create reusable technical examples, best practices, and collateral that improve team effectiveness, reduce time spent recreating customer-facing assets, and inform customer and partner conversations.
  • Provide customer feedback, field insights, and market observations to Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to influence roadmap priorities and strengthen market positioning.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience working with customers in technical pre-sales, consulting, or similar customer-facing roles.
  • Ability to run technical evaluations such as proofs of concept, proofs of value, workshops, tenders, audits, or value stream assessments.
  • Working knowledge of the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including DevSecOps practices and continuous integration and continuous deployment workflows.
  • Hands-on familiarity with GitLab or similar DevSecOps or software delivery platforms.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to adapt technical messages for practitioners, technical stakeholders, and senior business stakeholders.
  • Strength in building credibility, listening carefully, and representing customer needs to internal teams.
  • Interest in continuous learning, knowledge exchange, and developing expertise in GitLab, AI, and related cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, self-managed environments, or transferable experience from related technical fields is welcomed.

About the team

We serve as a technical partner for the field, helping customers and internal teams see the value of GitLab's platform approach during complex engagements. We work closely with go-to-market and product organizations, bringing field feedback into conversations about product direction, services, enablement, and value messaging. As a distributed team in an all-remote environment, we rely on clear communication, sound judgment, and common practices to work with customers across regions. We play an important role in GitLab's continued growth by combining technical depth, strong customer relationships, and operational discipline. For more on how we work, see Solution Architecture Handbook.
