About the Team:

Our growing User Experience team is looking for a Staff Product Designer & Researcher generalist to help evolve the developer experience on Netlify in collaboration with a diverse group of cross-functional partners in engineering, developer education, product management, support, marketing, and sales.

As a critical member of our UX Team, you’ll keep our users at the center of your process and balance near- and long-term initiatives that drive us toward building a better web. With our team, you’ll share and collaborate early and often, driving and facilitating meaningful discussion with a blend of in-person and async transparent communication. You’ll lead initiatives ranging from iterative feature improvements to explorations with high ambiguity that demand innovation. There’s plenty to do, so be ready to roll up your sleeves to help shape our team and raise the quality of developer and team experiences.

What You’ll Do:

  • Use your prior experience to lead projects toward user and business solutions and drive the design work and team from research to full-realized features and flows.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and other partners to represent the UX team, build bridges, facilitate design or research kickoffs and discussions, and drive the user experience forward.
  • Contribute to our design system and processes, including accessibility practices
  • Support your team with thoughtful feedback and shape how we tell customer experience stories at Netlify.
  • Manage participant recruiting, participant followups, and incentives disbursement for all studies
  • Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to product teams and stakeholders that surface recommendations and implications
  • Work with product stakeholders to test business requirements using heuristic/qualitative methods, in a rapid way
  • Establish strong async communication rhythms with your peers and leaders, practicing transparency and visibility in your progress against areas of focus.
  • Contribute to our expanding research practice and run usability tests in collaboration with research partners.
  • Organize around multiple work streams, including prioritizing, iterating, and timeboxing work as needed.
  • Create structure where there is ambiguity, can quickly adapt to organizational change and workstream shifts, and can help others navigate staffing and priority changes.

What You'll Bring:

  • A history of leading design efforts at a strategic level for technical products, platforms, or systems.
  • Proficiency at iterating & circulating concepts with peers and building toward high-confidence proposals, effectively prototyping and storytelling at various fidelities throughout the process.
  • A breadth of experience in the iterative product development process, from problem definition, information architecture, and UX flows to interaction and UI design.
  • A high level of comfort in working with developers in the presentation layer (for example, HTML, CSS) and is well-versed in using tools such as Figma and GitHub.
  • Rigor for accessibility, consistency, and high standard of quality.
  • Consistent autonomy and a drive to thrive in a cross-disciplinary and collaborative environment with product and engineering teams, where colleagues teach and learn from one another.Growth mindset: curious and open to new technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience in research operations including managing a participant database and setting up studies
  • Ownership in scoping, planning, and executing usability research studies, with minimal support and guidance
  • Welcome, but not required: other experience such as iconography, branding, front-end engineering, or content design.
  • We don’t have educational requirements for roles at Netlify, so whether you went to a school or are self-taught, we encourage you to apply.
  • We welcome candidates based in the US and Canada for this position.

Our applications will close on Monday, August-3rd at 5pm ET

A resume or short listing of your job history & skills (link to a LinkedIn profile would be fine). We appreciate a cover letter explaining why you would enjoy working in this role at Netlify to get to know you a bit better, though this is not required and will not impact your application. Our mission is to “build a better web” and that cannot be done without a diversity of skill sets, backgrounds and thoughts.

Of everything we've ever built at Netlify, we are most proud of our team. Netlify is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Now, as we embrace the next era of software development, we are embedding the same fluid, intuitive experience into the Agent Experience (AX), making it just as simple for intelligent agents to understand, interact with, and act on our platform as it is for developers. Whether your user is human or machine, Netlify ensures the path from idea to URL is seamless, fast, and deeply reliable.

We are a Series D company that has raised over $200M from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins, EQT, Bessemer, BOND, and Menlo Ventures. If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, we’re excited to connect with you!

At Netlify, we are committed to a compensation philosophy that prioritizes fairness and equity, positions our employee compensation competitively in the market, recognizes and rewards performance, and takes a comprehensive approach to our rewards package. We anchor our compensation philosophy on a market-based approach, therefore salary ranges may differ depending on the labor cost in a particular location. The salary provided is in addition to robust benefits and participation in Netlify’s equity plan. Our hiring range for this role is targeted at $196,000 - $232,000 USD for most US-based locations or $197,000 - $232,000 CAD for most Canada-based locations. Candidates in premium markets should consult with their Talent Acquisition partner regarding location-based ranges, as they may be higher or lower than the average ranges listed. The starting pay will be determined based on multiple factors, including expertise and skills, market demands, experience, internal equity, and applicable geographic location. These compensation packages and ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future.
