Senior Rust Software Engineer

Compensation: 90k–120k* + Stock-Options/BSPCE

Location: Remote with monthly Paris office visits (fully reimbursed). We can hire people already based in selected countries only: France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, UK

*We can go higher for outstanding profiles and adapt to the cost of living if it is higher than in Paris.

About the Role

  • You will contribute to the cross-platform libraries powering Photoroom on iOS, Android, and the Web, directly impacting millions of users.

  • You will architect, develop, and deliver complex features used by in-house app developers in exciting new technologies such as Rust, WebAssembly, and wgpu.

  • You will own your work from A to Z: from specification and implementation to integration on the target platform, working hand-in-hand with our product, web, and mobile teams to ensure a consistent Photoroom experience across all platforms.

  • You will contribute to our live collaboration platform (like Figma or Google Docs).

  • You will work within a small multicultural team of ~120 passionate, friendly, and committed people.

About You

  • You have proven experience developing software with Rust; experience in C/C++ is also very much appreciated. You have some understanding of at least one higher-level language (e.g. Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript/TypeScript) and are not afraid to learn more.

  • You have experience delivering cross-platform client-side code that provides simple interfaces to handle complex tasks.

  • You have a strong sense of ownership — you take initiative and are comfortable making both product and technical decisions.

  • You have worked as part of a talented team and have experience in a fast-growing start-up.

  • You are fluent in English (French is not required).

  • Nice to have: Experience with OpenGL, Metal, WebGPU, WebAssembly, Elixir, or Erlang.

If you think you have what it takes but don't meet every single point above, please still apply. We'd love to chat and see if you could be a great fit.

Benefits

  • Work flexibly from Germany, UK, Italy, France, Ireland, Portugal, or Spain, with monthly Paris office visits (fully reimbursed)

  • Regular team gatherings, including in-person onboarding in Paris (1–2 weeks), yearly company offsite and team retreat, quarterly in-person meetings, and social events

  • 30 days annual leave plus local public holidays

  • Competitive equity package with stock options/BSPCE, giving you ownership in our growing company

  • €1,000 one-time home office grant OR €400/month co-working space stipend (remote outside Paris)

  • €1,000 annual learning and development budget for training, courses, books, and skill development

  • Private health insurance

  • Relocation support (up to €10,000) for those choosing to move to France, including apartment finding and visa assistance

  • Access to personalised mental health support, including 1:1 sessions with therapists or coaches, self-care tools, and well-being resources via MokaCare

  • Sports and cultural activities reimbursement

  • Language lessons available for English and French

Note: Visa sponsorship and relocation support are only available for positions based in France. We cannot sponsor visas for remote positions outside of France.

  1. Screening call with Talent Manager or Hiring Manager (30 min)

  2. Technical interview with a member of the cross-platform team (45 min)

  3. Take-home technical assignment and live review with the team (45 min)

  4. Culture fit interviews and meet the team (~3h in total)

  5. Reference check and offer
