About the role

About Us

We are a globally distributed open source software consultancy, partnering with organisations to solve complex technical challenges through transparency, collaboration, and community-driven innovation. We are now looking for an exceptional People Lead to support and empower our engineering teams.

About the Role

As a People Leader, you will work with a globally dispersed workforce, creating a supportive, structured, and high-performance environment for our engineers. You will collaborate with individuals across the world, using your relationship-building skills and emotional intelligence to foster trust, drive accountability, and help our people thrive.

This role requires someone who is organised, proactive, confident in navigating sensitive situations, and motivated by helping others succeed—all within a fully remote, multicultural organisation.

What You'll Do

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with engineers across multiple time zones and cultures

  • Lead effective one-on-one and team meetings, balancing facilitation with real-time note-taking and follow-up actions

  • Set and reinforce clear expectations of the engineering role, ensuring alignment, fairness, and transparency

  • Drive the full performance management cycle by guiding teams through development planning, tracking and discussing progress against objectives, on a timely and constructive manner.

  • Manage performance, monitor challenges and issues, provide support and conduct appraisals as per company’s guidelines

  • Support and encourage individual growth and performance

  • Navigate sensitive or challenging conversations with professionalism, emotional intelligence, and an open mind

  • Support engineers through conflict, blockers, and personal or professional challenges with empathy and discretion

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to maintain strong communication channels and ensure alignment on organisational goals

  • Guide the team through organisational transitions, provide stability and maintain morale during periods of uncertainty

  • Maintain team engagement and productivity during change.

  • Help shape and champion a culture of openness, accountability, and respect

About You

  • A natural relationship-builder who thrives in a people-centric role

  • Excellent multitasker - able to run meetings while capturing insights and driving outcomes

  • Strong communicator with the confidence to have tough conversations when needed

  • Skilled listener- listen with attention, interest and empathy. Actively encourage and welcome diverse perspectives, new ideas and feedback

  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple work-streams in a fully remote environment

  • Experienced with performance management, coaching, and delivering actionable feedback

  • Comfortable working with a globally dispersed team across diverse cultures, communication styles, and time zones

  • Empathetic, open-minded, and committed to supporting people at all levels

  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to support changes and encourage learning

  • Experience in a tech or open source environment is a plus (but not required)
