The challenge
When a founder logs into Wayflyer, what they see, and how easily they can make sense of it, directly affects whether they trust us with their business. We're building financial products that need to feel effortless.
What you'll actually do
Lead the design and implementation of complex frontend features using TypeScript and React, ensuring high-quality, reusable components that scale across our financial products
Provide technical leadership in architectural decisions and establish best practices for frontend development
Partner with product and design teams to define and implement intuitive interfaces that help ecommerce brands access and manage their funding
Drive improvements in performance, accessibility, and user experience across our platform
Mentor junior developers and conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high code quality standards
Collaborate with backend teams to design and implement robust API integrations
Lead technical discussions and contribute to the team's technical strategy
Identify and proactively address technical debt and system scalability challenges

We look for candidates with most or all of the below traits that can point to real experience applying them.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of professional experience in software development, with deep expertise in frontend development
Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and extensive experience with React and modern frontend architectures
Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript fundamentals with a focus on performance optimisation
Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and managing complex state
Experience contributing to and working with design systems.
Solid understanding of Python and Django, with the ability to mentor others
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and maintaining high-quality testing practices
Proven track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring junior developers
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex problems
Excellent communication abilities and experience managing stakeholder relationships

Frontend engineers here tend to grow into broader technical leadership - shaping architecture across multiple products, moving into staff or principal engineering tracks, or taking on more direct influence over how we build and scale the team. The direction depends on where your interests are strongest.
