Position Overview:

Cresta is looking for a pragmatic, business-oriented Employment Counsel to lead and manage employment law matters across our global organization. This role will serve as the primary legal advisor on employment-related issues, partnering closely with Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and executive leadership to support a high-growth technology company operating in multiple jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate will have substantial in-house employment law experience, a strong understanding of U.S., European, and APAC employment frameworks, and the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Employment Law Counseling

  • Advise People and business leaders on a broad range of employment matters, including hiring, performance management, employee relations, investigations, accommodations, leaves of absence, compensation, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Provide legal guidance on workforce planning, reorganizations, reductions in force, and organizational changes.
  • Partner with Human Resources to develop and implement employment-related policies, procedures, and best practices.

Global Employment Compliance

  • Monitor and advise on employment law developments across the United States, Europe, and APAC.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local U.S. employment laws, as well as applicable European employment regulations.
  • Partner with external counsel as needed on country-specific employment issues and labor law requirements.
  • Advise on cross-border employment matters, including international hiring, mobility, remote work arrangements, and employee transfers.

Investigations and Dispute Resolution

  • Lead or support internal workplace investigations involving employee complaints, misconduct allegations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other sensitive matters.
  • Manage employment claims, agency charges, demand letters, and litigation in coordination with outside counsel.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate employment-related risks and resolve disputes efficiently.

Commercial and Operational Support

  • Review and draft employment-related agreements, including offer letters, employment agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, severance agreements, and consulting arrangements.
  • Support due diligence and integration activities related to acquisitions and other strategic transactions.
  • Deliver practical employment law training to managers, People Business Partners, and company leadership.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • At least 6 years of in-house employment law experience, preferably within a high-growth technology company.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. employment laws, including federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on European employment laws and employment practices, including working with employees, HR teams, and external counsel across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing employment disputes.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-focused advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and stakeholder management capabilities.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting multinational technology companies.
  • Familiarity with works councils, collective consultation requirements, employee representative bodies, and cross-border employment issues within Europe and APAC.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and international expansion initiatives.
  • Knowledge of privacy and employee data considerations, including GDPR-related employment matters.

Success in This Role:

You will be successful if you:

  • Build trusted relationships across Legal, People, and executive leadership teams.
  • Deliver practical, actionable legal advice that enables business growth while managing risk.
  • Create scalable employment processes that support a global workforce.
  • Help Cresta navigate complex employment challenges across multiple jurisdictions with confidence and efficiency.

Compensation at Cresta:

Cresta’s approach to compensation is simple: recognize impact, reward excellence, and invest in our people. We offer competitive, location-based pay that reflects the market and what each individual brings to the table.

The posted base salary range represents what we expect to pay for this role in a given location. Final offers are shaped by factors like experience, skills, education, and geography. In addition to base pay, total compensation includes equity and a comprehensive benefits package for you and your family.

Salary Range: $200,000 - $250,000 + Equity

We have noticed a rise in recruiting impersonations across the industry, where scammers attempt to access candidates' personal and financial information through fake interviews and offers. All Cresta recruiting email communications will always come from the @cresta.ai domain. Any outreach claiming to be from Cresta via other sources should be ignored.  If you are uncertain whether you have been contacted by an official Cresta employee, reach out to recruiting@cresta.ai
