Summary

Sweedpos.Com is hiring a Customer Data Platform Architect / Lead to join their Software Development team. We're Sweed https://sweedpos.com/#/, a product-driven startup building an all-in-one cannabis retail platform. Key skills: AI.

About the role

Hi there!

We're Sweed, a product-driven startup building an all-in-one cannabis retail platform. We’re looking for a CDP Architect / Lead, Customer Data Platform to help us design and build our Customer Data Platform from the ground up.

About Us

At Sweed, we’re reimagining how cannabis retailers operate. Our enterprise-grade platform combines POS, eCommerce, Marketing, Analytics and Inventory Management into a single, seamless solution—eliminating the need for multiple third-party tools.

We believe in simplicity, efficiency, and innovation. That’s why we build for scalability and performance, making life easier for cannabis retailers while driving real business growth.

Why We’re Doing This

At Sweed, we believe in the medicinal potential of cannabis. It has been shown to help with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and many other conditions. Despite the lingering stigma, we see cannabis as a powerful tool for improving lives.

The industry is evolving rapidly, and we’re here to drive that transformation—making cannabis retail more efficient, accessible, and customer-friendly.

Where We Are Now

We’ve been on the market for 7 years, continuously growing and refining our product.

Our focus is on earning customer trust, which means constantly improving our delivery processes and rolling out new features. At the same time, we navigate the complex legal landscape of the cannabis industry, ensuring our platform remains compliant and future-proof.

Team Structure

Our total team size is over 200 people:

The development team is distributed globally and organized into cross-functional product teams. These teams typically consist of 8–12 members, including front-end and back-end developers, QA specialists, and analysts.
Each team is led by a Team Lead and a Product Owner, ensuring effective collaboration and clear direction.
Meanwhile, our CEO, account managers, and customer success team are based in the USA, working closely with us to align product development with business and user needs.

Who are we looking for?

This is a 0→1 role: we’re not looking for someone who has only configured an off-the-shelf CDP vendor. We’re looking for a hands-on architect who can define the foundation of the platform, build the core data capabilities, and help turn customer data into a scalable product layer across POS, eCommerce, Marketing, Analytics, and Inventory.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Design and build the CDP from scratch: data ingestion, identity resolution, unified profile, activation.

  • Establish a multi-tenant architecture with data isolation by client and by state.

  • Build the AI enrichment layer: segmentation, predictive models (CLV, churn, propensity, next-best-product), and LLM-based preference enrichment.

  • Ensure privacy-by-design and compliance in a regulated vertical.

  • Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing, and clients.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience building a CDP from scratch (0→1) or scaling one substantially - not just operating someone else's solution.

  • Identity resolution: deterministic and probabilistic profile matching.

  • Data engineering: ingestion pipelines, streaming, warehouse/lakehouse, reverse ETL.

  • ML for customer data: segmentation, propensity/churn/CLV, recommendation approaches; understanding of how to embed LLM enrichment.

  • Experience in building preference capturing engines

  • Privacy/compliance: GDPR/CCPA, consent management, data minimization.

  • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture and data isolation.

  • Understanding of the martech ecosystem and channel activation.

Nice to have

  • Experience in regulated verticals (cannabis, fintech, healthcare/PHI, pharma).

  • Knowledge of cannabis specifics: track-and-trace (Metrc/BioTrack), TCPA, age verification.

  • Composable CDP on an in-house stack (not only Segment/mParticle).

  • Retail/e-commerce domain experience.

What Else Matters?

  • Execution focus – You are not only good at defining direction, but also at driving delivery and making things happen.

  • Resilience and judgment – You are comfortable working through ambiguity, pressure, competing priorities, and tough stakeholder conversations.

  • Practical AI mindset – You are curious about AI and can identify where it creates real product or business value, without treating it as hype.

What We Offer

  • Salary in USD (B2B contract with the US company)

  • 100% remote – We’re a remote-first company, no offices needed!

  • Flexible working hours – Core team time: 09:00-15:00 GMT (flexible per team)

  • 20 paid vacation days per year

  • 12 holidays per year

  • 3 sick leave days

  • Medical insurance after probation

  • Equipment reimbursement (laptops, monitors, etc.)

Hiring Process

  • Recruiter Call (45 minute)

  • Technical Interview (60 min)

  • Final Interview (up to 60 min)
